Ugh, sight reading.  I don’t remember much about the actual UIL competition, but I do know I sucked balls at sight reading.  Choir was so stupid, and I couldn’t STAND Ms. Hill!  If our crew had a burn book, she would totally be in it.  And I hate to break it to you Alecia, but we already looked like nerds.  It was sort of our thing.  Don’t ya agree?

PS, how awesome was it to draw that “S” and spell “Smile”?!  It was like our own personal coolness gauge.  The cooler your “S” looked, the cooler you were.  And nobody wants to be the least-cool nerd of the herd.

The Pen15 Club

Oh my gosh, I LOVE mad libs!  This class is..... boring?  Stupid?  Informative?  Unnecessary?  Poop?  The possibilities are endless.  And yikes, I hope I didn't write her back detailing everything me and my boyfriend had done.  It may have been strictly PG (not yet in the pen15 club) but that doesn't mean I'd be OK with the entire seventh grade knowing.  Thank goodness Facebook wasn't around back then.  Let's all cross our fingers and hope that everyone is over FB and on to something a little less socially invasive and potentially damaging before our kids get to middle school.

Dork and a Half

Seriously, how did any of us get to High School? We had the collective spelling and grammar abilities of a 5 year old.  Funny how she complains about trying to get some dork-and-a-half to spell "quadral", which is a pretty advanced word for a 7th grader, and then continues to misspell every other word in the letter.  I'm not hating.  In fact I was notorious for confusing "board" with "bored", and I still have to use google to make sure I'm spelling "maybe" right.  But holy crappoli, at least do a once over before folding up the paper and passing it on.  It's not an iphone, so there's no excuse.

Ahhhh, skorts:   The mullet of wardrobe pieces.  This was in reference to Alecia’s birthday party in 7^th grade.  It was  AWESOME!  Her parents had a limo pick us girls up from school and take us to Dave and Busters (or some gaming place, if I remember correctly).  We jammed out to Coolio’s Gangsta’s Paradise the whole way.  As in, we rewound the cassette tape and played it over and over again while singing at the top of our lungs.  The limo driver must have loved us.  Then we had a sleepover at the Hilton Hotel in Grapevine, where we played elevator tag and ate candy all night.  Seriously one of the best nights of my middle school life.
